the whole 'tee-hee; i'm so DEPRESSED! i'm totally SLACKING OFF at my job!!!' attitude of 00's and early-10's millennials has been made real by zoomers. millennials were actually a fairly hardcore striver generation.
many zoomers would actually like to be strivers (hence, the appeal of the whole 'grindset' meme), but lack the capacity or intelligence to enact these desires in any sort of useful or coherent fashion.
and that makes them legitimately unmotivated.

you sure it's their lack of capacity and intelligence?
i think they actually are pretty legitimately frozen out of most paths to 'success.' their grievances and perception of things are pretty real and accurate imo

it's both, though one feeds into the other. they also don't have any realistic way to change or 'attack' the system other than soft/hard quitting.

yeah, agreed. but i think that the actual meaningful difference between them and previous generations is their recognition of this
actually, there hasn't been any real threat to the system for many generations. zoomers are just the first generation to openly acknowledge and accept this. everyone before them was both less informed and more conceited and always believed that They Were Going To Be The Ones To Change Things
zoomers are the first westerners to recognize: hey, actually, this shit is irreparably fucked and it's actually just not going to get better - and then react to this recognition in pretty rational ways. i think that the first people to Create something Genuinely New and promising will be zoomers, with maaaaybe younger millennials joining them

that's why the US slashed medicaid spending in the budget bill as an attempt to prod younger men back into the workforce, but their lack of motivation seems deeper than just healthcare coverage.
