Soviet doctrine called for reconnaissance in force and airborne operations no further than 80km from the front. The Russians got overconfident in places and advanced ~100 miles in spots where they met zero resistance. Most of the losses then resulted from abandoned armor from when recce in force units ran out of fuel. Someone didnt read Soviet textbook closely enough. But thats why there are relatively few dead body pics. This is actually quite normal and happened early in Iraq too.
Most of the REAL losses in turn are then supply units chasing the recce in force. These were very light convoys -- often just 3 trucks. VERY dangerous work. To the extent you have seen larger losses there have only been two incidents -- one involving a full MSTA-S artillery battalion that lost an arty duel with Ukrainian artillery. The Ukrainians do have American radars and are capable of winning against a single battalion unless over matched with tubes. And you saw a Rosgvardia convoy of ~30 vehicles ambushed outside Kharkov. That was due to poor opsec because that exact spot was photographed yesterday with Russian armor and was all over the internet. They sent MORE armor to the same spot today. Idiocy.
Other than that you dont see significant losses of any kind. Given the pace of the advance a few stragglers gettin POWed or ambushed is going to happen. The Russians will not stop over anything short of full company sized formations disappearing. Operational speed is more important than even 20 lives.
The real fight hasnt started. Stay tuned.
