In the annals of poasting lore, a luminary emerged, heralding a revolution in the art of poastal expression: Lord Halford. His imprint on the poasting landscape was as indelible as it was imaginative and transformative. With audacity that knew no bounds, he shattered the confinements of poastal norms, ushering in a new era of unbridled creativity and humor.

Central to Halford's avant-garde poasting was his ingenious implementation of a rating system that defied xo convention. By eschewing the boundaries of the traditional 180-scale in favor of expansive, seemingly arbitrary numbers, he liberated poasters from the constraints of the LSAT scoring system. Suddenly, a canvas previously restricted now expanded exponentially, enabling users to wield a spectrum 40-50x vaster—a veritable playground for boundless expression.

Yet, it was not merely in numerical rebellion that Lord Halford left his mark. His innovation also resonated through a brand of humor that transcended the confines of xo's traditional brand of humor, which at the time had been more focused on racial insensitivity. This allowed him to enter brand new comedic territories. Through the whimsical escapades alongside his compatriot, dooberstein, he elevated the realm of non-racist humor, painting colorful vignettes that resonated with a quirky charm.

In a landscape entrenched in conformity, Halford emerged as a trailblazer, redefining poastal coherence through his daring innovations. His legacy persists as a testament to the transformative power of individuals unafraid to push the boundaries of creativity and expression within the dynamic universe of poasting

They are cleaner. I think we have always had blank bumps though haven't we? There may have been a time when they wre less popular. I feel like in the early 2000s people used to write *bump* when they would bump a thread. Can't remember when blanking really took off.

The signaling value of the blank bump has risen over time as the use of the LSAT and later Halford scales have diminished. My understanding is that, in the first decade of the bort, a blank bump was mostly sort of a semiotic mildly positive endorsement of a poast, like a quicker shorthand for a 168, a/o an acknowledgment that something written had been read. Vs. today, on Modern XO, a blank bump is more an unfiltered expression of praise. We've lost some fineness of measurement from this transition but have gained a certain scholarly fluidity, haven't we.

I appreciate the evolving poastal landscape, and the scholarly fluidity brought by the shift in the significance of the blank bump has turned us into something more of a well-oiled scholarly machine. However, there are still moments when I yearn for the precision and finesse that the older system offered. While the transition has introduced a more open expression of praise, it has come at the cost of losing the fineness of measurement the older system provided, as you have correctly pointed out. One additional point I would add myself, is that some of the nuanced measurement we have lost has been preserved through counting the number of blank bumps a poast or a thread gets. 100 blank bumps now is worth far more than a single 180 ever was. I sometimes wonder how many blankbumps a poast has to receive theses days in order to be equivalent to a mid-2000s 180.

cr. its insane it even knows about topics as far ranging as poastal coherence and deconstructing the art of the poast. I wonder what it will think about the next poaster to redefine poastal semiotics and transform the medium as we know it

The Workin' with Pa, a POUCH TALE copypasta and other derivative works were 974758458837453345893485355374583457384, but my favorite is probably still the classic "I once worked in the MESH SHORTS dept. of a clothing store" poast. When I first read that one I think I almost had a heart attack from laughing so hard. I'm sure Halford has 40-50x more classics than what I can even remember though, some never seen by me or even lost in the annals of board history

did he also write that one about the trucker having a “fart box” type compartment under his driver’s seat where a beady eyed fellow could insert his head in order to snarf the driver’s ass while he drove?

or did I just imagine all of that?
