SEC dominance was largely built on the basis of its proximity to the talent base of the sport.

If what really matters is cumulative alumni wealth, Harvard and Stanford are going to dominate, if those schools decide that's too gauche to try to do, there's still a long list of schools better positioned than the traditional SEC powers.

I would hope Congress reigns things in before that. It's crazy to me that nothing has seriously happened legislatively yet.

Why should congress be involved at all?

What market improves with government interference?

Prices convey information, the world where prices get to influence resource allocation is a massive improvement over the alternative.

Let’s appreciate all the benefits of letting the free market do it’s thing.

Nobody likes the current system. It can change overnight with legislation but politicians are just sitting on their hands.

It is a huge, unsustainable waste of money to pay college players. It can go away overnight.

No it’s not, what was a massive waste of money was dropping millions of dollars on practice facilities to impress 18 year olds, just giving them the cash straight up is a huge efficiency improvement.

Some of it probably isn’t sustainable, if it goes away, that’s the market doing its thing.

Facilities are less of a waste of money because they at least stay there.

That would be awesome if the Ivy League decided to move up and really throw their financial muscles around
