for example, the 2004 reality TV series 'american casino' wasn't that interesting on its own, but as a portrait of the weird little cultural moment of that specific time and place (early GWOT/pre-financial crisis gaudy bush-era america as experienced in an off-strip prole casino), it's quite a document.
you can even hear the low culture's transition from nu-metal to southern snap-rap in the ambient music, along with a heap of country-slop. just like it was at the time. |
