Obviously exercise is a positive and wards against depression etc and the greater prevalence certainly has something to do with our disconnect from what we were evolutionarily designed to do and how we live...but clearly there is also some aspect of the human condition that has benefited from the capacity to be miserable.

there's no medication that you can take that will do anything positive other than stimulants

what's happening in your body is that you have a lower baseline dopamine level (genetic) because you burn through dopamine faster than you can normally take it in (genetic)

when you take stims, you're artificially boosting your dopamine levels, so you feel better. but if you make a habit of it, your body will adjust and burn dopamine even faster, so you'll lose the boost

best things you can do are boosting dopamine in non-pharmaceutical ways (exercise, sex, other satisfying activities that cause your body to reward itself with dopamine). and you gotta make a habit of them and you gotta put yourself in situations where you're "forced" to do them because you don't have an inherent unconscious drive to do them

i'm not saying this is easy, it's definitely not. i'm the same way as you and it's hard for me too. it's something you struggle with your whole life. it could be worse, you could be short, ugly, brown, etc. focus on the positive gifts you got and most importantly NEVER EVER EVER FEEL SORRY FOR YOURSELF EVER NO MATTER WHAT

Effectively no one is depressed who does the following consistently and regularly:

(1) Excercises;

(2) Sleeps a full night's sleep every night on a very consistent schedule and during proper sleeping hours;

(3) Eats healthy,

(4) Avoids GC poisons,

(5) limits alcohol and drugs (including fraud kike prescription drugs),

(6) spends time and in the sun outside everyday,

(7) avoid doom scrolling and similar phone/computer activities;

(8) has meaningful personal relationships.

I've been depressed since I was 12, at the moment I am old and getting fatter, but for a solid 20+ of those years I was very physically active and in damn near perfect shape, being sedentary makes it worse but gymos get the causation backwards on working out in that if you have the energy to specifically go work out then you are, by definition, not really depressed

I think you have causality backwards. I’m not depressed but sometimes I’ll be out running or lifting weights and suddenly some thought goes through my head - a boss asking for some bullshit, my wife nagging me about something out of my control - and my motivation evaporates. I deflate and walk home or rack the weights. The truly depressed people I’ve seen in life won’t even have to motivation to get out of bed, much less exercise.

I’m chronically depressed but the exercise helps. If I lay off the exercise a depressive bout is definitely incoming.

Antidepressants is the one thing with the greatest disconnect between what doctors think and what their patients actually experience. I don't know one depressed person who thinks that antidepressants helped them in any meaningful way.

Ive looked extensively into this not flame if we can be serious for a minute.

Fuck Jung and all the psychoanalysis new age bullshit and the SSRI-Dopamine myth

Depression and Sadness are hardwire BAKED into the male organism if Anger is suppressed.

This is a 100% biological physiological fact and the castration of modernity and also a huge DYSGENIC component that handles INNATE COPE MECHANISMS in most subhuman males living now is a huge factor in depression - they lack any ability to get needs met so their anger festers deeper into depression.

Also Happiness does not exist, there is only JOY which used to be a default in the absence of Misery. Misery from dormant Anger at Self or External ends up as Depression in every male human, rat, etc on earth since we live in a Fatherless Godless Technofaggot inverted World now

huh. how does suppressing anger cause depression and sadness? and does that mean a modern man should be finding things to be angry at, like for therapeutic effect?

Anger is an anesthetic for grief and sadness, totally crowds them out. The only problem is you have to walk around angry all the time or they’ll come flooding in once it goes away. So there’s probably something to it

anger and anxiety are never goign away in any male organism - they are pervasive states to get needs met and for the organism to orient within any environment and reproduce

they can be at best become Empathy and Excitement in purest forms

Supressed they become Depression and OCD

Anger is from injustices perceived and unmet needs to organism, Anxiety is from social hierarchy ranking and avoided conversation/covert contracts or potentiality of imagined conflicts with others in social realm

Weed or a numbing surrogate activity is the #1 way modern male copes with anger and sadness and it usually just sublimates between those two states so that they avoid the unaddressed need or issue

Anxiety just takes form of some autistic OCD behavioral trait or derailing obsessive thought

This is well studied and backed by a ton of research, Jordan Peterson went broken clock a bit on it with the Lobster Seretonin stuff but didnt get to root cause since he was selling Goyim some lame online test and 10 rules for washing your dick proper

Daily exercise and being generally physically active throughout the day have been the main tools for keeping me from becoming any worse than mildly depressed. But exercise alone is not the fix; I make it a point to spend a good amount of time outside every day in natural light, eat unprocessed, healthy food, keep a consistent, healthy sleep schedule, etc. When I relied primarily on exercise and didn't have as many other healthy habits, I could get noticeably more depressed, usually in the fall and winter.

the actual answer is that the cure for your "depression" is living less inside your own head. Any activity that is physical (rather than mental) or other-focused (rather than self-focused) will combat that to some extent or another. Exercise fits that definition and has ancillary physiological benefits which make you generally "feel better" which your brain/body interpret as being less depressed

Cr this also applies to anxiety. Another way of putting it is to stop building up anxious/depressed stories in your head. People with depression or anxiety tend to put together negative stories in their heads that reinforce the depression and anxiety. If you just keep saying "this is just an anxious/depressed thought," don't build a story around it and just let the thought dissipate, and continue about your day, you quickly forget whatever that anxious/depressed thought was and go back to baseline. One weird trick.
