People reporting not being able to receive withdrawals for over a month. They blamed "Crypto Capital Corp.", which Bitfinex use to process payments, but Crypto Capital Corp is almost certainly owned by Bitfinex. The bank they had been using, Noble Bank, headquartered in Puerto Rico, just declared bankruptcy.

They dismissed the possibility of insolvency as ridiculous, and linked to their BTC, ETH and EOS wallets as evidence of this, but still to this day no one really knows if tether is backed 1:1.

As a result BTC on any tether-based exchange such as Bitfinex or Binance is currently trading $100 higher than USD-based exchanges.
