Or he could just be dogged by injuries forever (although it certainly won't be because they half-assed his rehab and rushed him back on to the floor). This is the most interesting question going into the next NBA season for me. He has the body and skill set to be a generation defining championship centerpiece bigman. Or he could have like a 10 game career.

ps - here's his body after a few years of no-contact, but plenty of lifting and working on his shot: http://imgur.com/cjilOtK

Add Ingram, Saric and a free agent to the mix, and Sixers could def be a playoff team next season

nah I'm with Barkley on Ingram over Simmons ....

“There’s a couple things that make me nervous about Ben Simmons,” Barkey said, noting that he didn’t understand why the top prospect avoided playing in both the NIT Tournament and the Summer Olympics.

“[Simmons] didn’t dominate the SEC,” a concerned Barkley pointed out to Missanelli, who thinks the Sixers should draft him. “The SEC was awful, and he couldn’t even get them to the NCAA Tournament against that competition? Are you kidding me?”

“I don’t dislike Simmons but I like Brandon Ingram,” Barkley said.

I don't know much about basketball but I am a Philly sports fan. Doesn't it matter that they have 3 centers and potentially two power forwards (Saric and Simmons) and, basically, crap?

If Embiid is legit at all, the smart move is to trade Okafor for value at PG or SG guard spot and then use all other assets including the two late 1st round picks this year, cap space, etc, to try and find shooters you think you can teach defense or defenders you think you can teach to shoot. The problem is that it is more risk than its worth right now to move Okafor until you know Embiid can actually play.

Also, we do have some other assets already on the roster. Robert Covington and Jerami Grant are solid NBA players that can be part of our long-term solution. Although admitted its questionable how they could fit with simmons and/or saric. There is a desperate need for some true guards.

Trading Okafor would be ridiculously dumb. If anyone is to be traded, it's Noel.

Foot injuries do not get better with age. I don't disagree with you about Embiids potential but that was never the question with him.

The problem with Embiid is that there are really 3 options rather than 2

1 dominant

2 10 game career

3 more than 10 game career but never has enough court time at full health to be dominant

Edit: I get that you acknowledged 3 and weren't just saying 2 options.

Unfortunately for him I'm betting on 3. Although I will enjoy loling at philly fans.

This season is make-or-break, I think. If he sits out with injury this year, his chance of having a productive career is 10% or less (I think that's generous).

Could easily end up a top 5 center all-time if he can stay healthy.
