On to Persepolis, then Kabul, and across the Khyber to Delhi. Chill a few days with the Sultan. Then the long journey to Mandalay.

bullshit my man. none of those road builders even had a degree! and um, I’m pretty sure you need qualified civil engineers for that kind of work.

isn't it relatively easy to build a device that can generate electricity? drilling and refining crude seems impossible. but would there be a way to build a waterwheel or something that could generate electricity with modern knowledge? an electric 4x4 might be the best option.

Horses worked great. There were outposts with people ready to go at a moment's notice. You would ride your horse fast as fuck to the next outpost, hand whatever you were transporting to the next dood who would then do the same. If you were to drive across the same territory on modern roads you probably wouldn't save any time. You would spend long periods of time stopped to rest, eat and fuel up, and you would hit traffic.

Carthage tried to run this shtick twice, once on sea and once on land.

Achaemenids claimed they could move a parcel from one end of the empire to the other in not more than 2 days. That's what inspired Romans to do this in the first place. The Tour de France is really one legacy of all this.
