Nurse stopped me when I walked into the hospital, took my temperature, and took down my info. The place was just about dead silent otherwise. No lines.
I go to the mall/supermarket combo place. The mall is not just shut down, it's darkened. The supermarket is open and the workers are cleaning the cart handles and giving out gloves. Stickers on the floor in front of register lines remind people to keep social distance. Not crowded at all, brief wait for checkout. Normally it is berzerk on weekends.
All goods well-stocked. An announcement was constantly playing over the PA letting shoppers know the store was sanitized and that gloves/hand gel were available. The store WAS a lot cleaner than I've ever ever seen it. |

I don't think this is stoppable, and this is keeping in mind that KSA's response has been very strict. Quick screenings, travel bans, lockdowns, close monitoring of supplies in stores, and very quick directives sent to the health care sector.
I wonder if anyone's numbers are good, or will stay that way. |

They have NO time slots available. Complaints on Twitter, including from people taking care of elderly parents, are met with the same reply over and over again about how hard they're working on it.

Enrollment in school is way down... multiple teachers' classes scheduled for next semester have been cancelled or put on hold.
Multiple teachers flew out on one-way repatriation flights for summer. Saudi is still not allowing incoming international travel so they're stuck outside the country. They have three weeks after the start of the term to get back in or they are laid off for the remainder of the semester. My boss may have to get someone in management to intervene.
Stopped at an Indian-owned dry clean shop when I was out getting a snack. I know the guy from shopping nearby all the time. The shop was bereft of any garments hanging up along the walls. No employee salaries have been paid for three months. When his lease is up for the place, he will go back to Kerala :(
Kuwait is kicking out a lot of foreigners, too. |

I'm probably going to get fired next semester if I don't get the vaccine. They're putting our names on lists very soon.
It's getting less and less avoidable to be exposed to the virus. And I've had very bad flus and colds, even as a small kid.
Taking that vaccine is 100% going to make me seriously ill, too.
I have to figure out what to do. I might make it for a while if I just stay put again. Maybe, maybe.

One Saudi official quipped that the real leader of the country is the Saudi entertainment authority, which is responsible for allowing all of these concerts and exhibitions that are happening now. You can look on an app and there's stuff like "LEGO Experience, Jeddah, May 40 - June 20 - a fun building block experience for kids and adults alike!". There are these EDM concerts and seasonal shopping things too.
