Tony mentions how he's reached heights his old man couldn't have dreamed of, but in many ways his dad had it better - they had their people, their community, pride. Today, what do we got?
Watching this scene - "even with computers" lol - it's crazy how much mystery and awe has been sucked from the world and our imaginations due to the invasion of the bots in our digital world....
Something else I'm noticing (currently on Season 5, second rewatch of show) - how many subtle details throughout the show really remind you how this show belongs to the pre 9-11 era of American tv, it's hard to remember details on the spot but just some of the jokes and hints about what kind of audience it knows it's playing to, it's really depressing in that way
By far though what stands out the most that I didn't remember is how pre-occupied the show is with death - hospitals, cancer, funerals, existential anxiety, hits, moving bodies, digging graves.... |
