I have been; I grew up what would be considered deeply "blue collar" here, wearing hand me downs of hand me downs and watching my parents cut coupons on the kitchen table every weekend to make sure we had enough food for the week, having to get rides from aunts because the car wasn't going to get fixed that month. Having money, especially once you're in the millions, gives you degrees of freedom that someone from that life will never have.
Your faggot point, which is that many people get wrapped up in a cycle of earning for the sake of earning and/or golden handcuffing themselves, is a valid one, but that's those people's own goddamn fault; there is clearly a pathway where money does give you more room to decision-make and maneuver if you plan your life that way.
My Martin does me good every time I pick it up. It soothes my brain. So does the old scotch. So does the Reverso. Etc. You should try it.

I don't need to do this; I opt to and I'm rewarded for it in a way that I find meaningful -- not that it defines me, but it's a valuable component of my life.
The size of the axe you're grinding right now is quite large. I don't begrudge you wanting to live a more bohemian simplistic life but try not to paint everyone who is out there earning as automatons stuck in a cycle of capitalist greed. Life is more complex than that.
