DOes a really good job of eloquently explaining why our news today is so bad. Nothing can be covered unless it is someone's fault or someone's win. For example, you can't just cover a hurricane anymore, you have to cover either (i) how Trump is personally fucking up the response by tossing paper towels or (ii) how the Democrats are blaming it on climate change and trying to take oil jobs.
It can't just be worthy of news coverage by virtue of the fact that nature fucked up 2 million people's homes. |

i remember reading ender's game as a kid, and a huge plot point was this internet-like system and how two of the characters used to to gain a cult following. however, they did so with logical arguments and reasoning. the internet was in it's infancy at the time, and i had all these visions of a society without misinformation that could be informed about anything instantly. i continued to believe this until like 8 years ago or so. that surely free flowing information and easy communication would naturally squash out misinformation and ignorance.
turns out it's WAY worse, lmao. |
