This is the US in a month, but the 10% of olds unvaccinated are going to get fucked.
90% have antibodies (from vaccine or prior infection). That’s probably substantially all of the adult population and it is actually >99% of people 50 and over.
This is a pandemic of the not previously infected.
Seems with Delta we are back to herd immunity though prior infection as the way out. |

Personally: If previously infected, no. If not previously infected, somewhere around that age or lower the cost/benefit seems worth it to get a shot, especially J&J.
Having COVID is often not fun. |

The key thing is that we don’t have data on vaccine performance head to head because CDC won’t release data (which they and the states fucking have), UK only used AZ and Pfizer (and is stingy with the data on comparisons), Israel is all Pfizer so really only the US has good head to head data and …. They won’t tell us.
There is reason to believe it could be more effective, but it’s probably less. If you are under 50, since the vaccines don’t seem to prevent infection after a period of time, you are trying to avoid getting it BAD so something is likely to do that. And J&J is something. And J&J has made public statements that would be inconsistent with it falling flat.
It seems to be the least risky, the really bad adverse reactions usually come after dose 2 of mRNA. |
