The Australia nuclear submarine deal thing is INSANE

By proliferating nuclear sub tech the US violated a slew of formal promises to both Russia and China and ensured that Russia will now sell nuclear subs to India, Vietnam, Iran, Indonesia and also China now that proliferation of this tech is blessed by DC.
2. By including Tomahawk missiles in the deal the US violated the MTCR treaty which means the MTCR is now dead. Russia and China could previously pretend that S.Korean “developments” in this area were not MTCR violations but the Aussie deal isn’t even being masked with a fake domestic program. It’s a naked transfer.
3. This is horrific for any future negotiations because the US has now torn up not just every two way treaty with Russia but now a formal global non-proliferation agreement with no evidence or even a claim that Russia and China have ever violated the MTCR. And all this while claiming we need to fight proliferation in Iran. Huge balls.
4. This burned every last bridge with France which was going to ink a $90!!!! billion 30 year SSK agreement with the Aussies. They will be looking for revenge.
The entire sale makes no sense for Australia as explained in this video.

Better question is what ultimately becomes of India. Seems like it could go wildly in either direction for the next 10-15 years and Modi will prevent it from aligning strongly enough with the U.S. to maximize its own economic interests, which will keep India way poorer than it should be. The other big domino that could fall is Iran. An insanely underreported story right now is how bad Covid is for the mullahs (further legacy of China's TTT vaccines) and how much it wrenches the demographics and the public sentiment even further against them and leaves them begging for help from the U.S. and Europe thus they just approved the J&J vaccine and accepted shipments of 1M moderna. If Iran were to liberalize it would create a massive shift because China and Russia would both get fucked hard, and Iran is the most educated and 21st century capable workforce in the developing world by a factor of 40 literally. |

They seemed to appreciate us then, but in WW2 they were saying a few weeks really after liberation in Paris that our GIs were "pire que la boche" - "worse than the Hun."
And a few weeks before liberation German newsreels showed our downed pilots being paraded through Paris with French citizens spitting at them. |
