14-year-old boy shot, killed outside Shelbyville laundromat
SHELBYVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A teenager was killed outside a Shelbyville laundromat on Monday night.
Shelbyville police said the 14-year-old boy was shot in the parking lot of Duck River Laundry just after 9 p.m. He has been identified as Israel Diego Pascual, a freshman at Shelbyville Central High School.
"We are extremely saddened by this tragedy and great loss of one of our own," said Superintendent Dr. Tammy Garrett. "Our prayers are with this family."
Police now say they believe they've identified the shooter as Horatio Lewis Rice and "warrants are on file for his arrest for the charge of first-degree murder."
Michael Anthony Caldwell is a second man who police say is a person of interest in Pascual's death. Both men are considered armed and dangerous. UPDATE: Caldwell has been located.
Pascual was doing laundry with his family, when police say Rice then ran up and shot him multiple times.
“There was no reason why he should’ve been a victim last night. He was not a high risk victim or someone who was involved in criminal activity. Nothing in the investigation thus far has shown he was any different than anyone else,” said Deputy Chief Brian Crews.
Deputy chief Crews says he spoke with the family who are understandably devastated by the loss, but say they don't know what connection they may have to the suspects.

who will win this latest american RACE WAR? blacks have a lot of personnel in the mid-south, but mexicans seem to have more organization and planning. they are justifiably outraged by this attack, and there is significant 'chatter' about retaliatory strikes to avenge the loss. |

The Hispanic gangs came out to protect their neighborhood from looting or other criminal activity. I think they coordinated with CPD to let them know that X area was being guarded by Y gang. The thing is that besides the south of Chicago, there is a strip of black communities that run east to west through the mid of Chicago. I guess like a black belt of Chicago. Anyways, hispanics were discouraged from travelling through there bc apparently blacks informed ppl to take hits out on them. I don't think much happened but I know people had to take the expressways around the black areas, instead of typically driving through that shitty part of Chicago.
Plenty of black organizers called them racists and upholding structural racism. Which was such BS. I remember this interview where a reporter was asking one of the neighborhood patrol men, "So, when is this going to stop? These men out here with guns?" He replied, "When they stop jacking our shit. That's when." |
