also, if it was a serious relationship, if it was ever really "real" you would think that that person would be there as a last resort. like, if you spent 3 years with someone and broke up, and 10 years later got cancer and wanted to say goodbye. idk. it's just seems really fucked up that you can go from sharing your life with someone to *NO COMMUNICATION POSSIBLE* without some sort of other factor (continued unwanted communication, unforgivable betrayal, etc)

also, a lot of these people that do petty things like this have never experienced a real crisis. they've never lived through a cancer scare, or the death of a parent, etc. etc. it only takes one thing like that to put things into perspective and realize how fragile and precarious all of our situations are. when you're in the midst of something like that, you will wish you had everyone on your side who possibly can be. they might even "unblock" you when it happens to them.
