Finally, given the lack of efficacy against infection and spread of the vaccines (more vax infected than unvax infected per capita 40 and up in UK), any claimed benefit of the vaccine to anyone other than the recipient is nonsense.
All of these make mandates wrong. If it were more deadly, if there were no immunity from prior infection, if the vaccines worked as advertised, if the vaccines had no adverse effects, if if if … then there could be an argument for mandates (like smallpox), but reason is playing no part in any of this. |

The smallpox vaccine was infection with a lesser virus (cowpox) so the vaccine could not be worse than getting the disease. Most vaccines work that way to an even greater degree, dead or attenuated virus, so the only opposition would be chance of getting the disease (which is a lot of the anti-vax on MMR etc. the diseases are not circulating).
Here, the vaccines are different than the disease, and have unknown risk profiles (both because of the lack of long term data and the lack of tracking of adverse events). And unlike previous vaccines, they are ineffective at preventing infection after a very short period of time. Which makes them leaky and that is another issue.
Add on the layer of the misinformation about them, especially the overselling and rushed nature of them, combined with the sporadic data which continues to get worse over time, and public health has a serious credibility and trust issue.
If I had and survived smallpox, I would not get the smallpox vaccine (and would have been exempt from any smallpox mandate). |
