Agreed. The connection between "individual rights"/unfettered capitalism and the degradation of the family and community is one that Americans avoid mentioning. The insane focus on "individual rights" also results in elevation of the political system and the courts for resolution of issues because everyone wants the magical imprimatur of the courts or the system ("my rights are guaranteed!"; "democracy has spoken!"). One side has to win and the other lose.
In other advanced countries you have a more realistic view of government and a more collaborative and consensus-oriented approach. I see it a lot in how the legal systems in these countries operate vs the U.S. So often the government will step in, often informally, to resolve big commercial disputes that in the US would go through a protracted litigation. There's a lot less autistic legalism elsewhere because they don't have this classical liberal approach.
