But in terms of reliably tracking the shots that have already been given, there's more chance of making it work on the biological side (testing for antibodies) than on the logistical tracking side. The system (system*s*, since it's a decentralized mess with stacks of blank CDC cards just floating around everywhere, and most states having a clearinghouse for vax doses near the end of the shelf life to just get picked up by another authorized dispenser) just wasn't built to do that.
The guy who photocopies his friend's card and uses Adobe to put his own name in there is going to get away with it. Sorry, lib. |

And that is before they cross reference the names and dates/sites on the card with the state databases.

Even if your county/state does 'better' than mine, the fact that my place exists means you're home free if you're not a retard. |

This thing was set up before I got asked to give input (and I don't want to oversell my participation; it was basically a way to pay my firm to curry political favor and I don't have any misgivings about that), and the clear purpose / main worry was compliance with HIPAA and our state's more-exacting state-level equivalent. I.e., the opposite of "tracking," which, bear in mind, was still being disclaimed at the time.
The biggest 'security' involved, as I alluded to above, was to keep ppl from jumping in line and getting the vax too early (I'm fairly clearly a fit mid-30s white guy). |

I have been asking all my vax friends to see their cards and a friend who works checking cards about them to get a good sample of cards to evaluate so that we, as members of the bar, can do what we can to stop fraud.
The one I saw that would be most easy to fake was a random pharmacy which (1) just put a paper sticker with their name on it and (2) had you fill out your own information (so your handwriting) and (3) was in philly. The problem with that one is that you had to register online to get the jab there. I understand that there are some that (1) are in philly; (2) did not/do not require online registration; (3) don’t check ID; and (4) have you write your own info.
So ya, it possible to copy someone else’s and use that as a fake with lower risk. But people are not that smart and the vast majority of fakes can be detected. |

Not because I believe that vaccinations are critically important at this point. I think it is still the prudent thing to do, but cases are going down rapidly, and in a few months I doubt COVID will be a major issue any more. So I don't see a huge public health argument for mandatory vaccination.
But I would still fire anyone who refuses a vaccination because they are a fucking moron, and I don't want fucking morons working for me. It means that they are so fucking stupid that they trust Fox/Tucker/random idiots on social media more than they trust scientists and doctors. It means that they are so fucking stupid that they think that a vaccine that has been administered to over 3 billion people somehow is dangerous and no one has noticed yet. And if they present a fake vax card, it shows that they are so fucking stupid that they would rather risk their job than spending 30 minutes to get a free vaccine that 3 billion other people have received with no serious issues.
Vaccine mandates are fantastic for employers who want smart, competent employees. Firing every employee that fails an IQ test would normally be illegal. But requiring COVID vaccines is a fantastic way to fire all of your most idiotic employees legally. |
