Been working on some kneesovertoesguy stuff and will start squatting again for the first time in a few months. Finally got DL back to 2x BW.

Going forward, I think my plan is to only work on either squat or dl at a time. So like squats + RDLs for a couple weeks or deads + lunges/rfess. Seem to hurt myself less that way.

thanks brother. all true. it's my boy's 1st birthday today. taking the family to the local halloween festival thingamabob. bunch of my neighbors are going and hopefully post gaming.

the best way to add the lifting is at night. i go to lift at like midnight. no need to fight for the power rack and i have one that allows me to strategically record my lifts so i can always check my form. it's a 180 piece of the puzzle. that and buying my own microplates that i bring with me in my bag. i can't stress enough how game changing microplating has been. i no longer get stuck.

honestly, i think most men should be able to get to at least 405 if they put the work in and just do the whole 5 pounds a workout thing. i'm a yuge shill for starting strength linear progression. if i had known about it in my 20s i would have 0 doubts i would still be floating around that # and squatting in the 4s.

i have always been a poverty benchmo and am working up. i would like to bench 315 in a year or so. at my current programming it should take a little under a year.

If someone skips squats and deadlifts, I assume it is to leave more time for Zumba.

lmao.

you still training martial arts? i've been competing once a quarter now that tournaments are back and been launching guys. worked my standup a lot and guys are so used to butt scooting they get bewildered when you don't accept it and just launch them.

Work has really limited my time on the mats. But I miss it a lot. Why BJJmos think it's okay to skip takedowns is baffling to me. I absolutely love judo for the element that gets overlooked in BJJ.

I don't squat anymore, can't walk or sit properly for like 3 days after doing it (getting old sucks)

sounds like a volume issue. do like 5s or 3s and heavy singles.

I was deadlifting over 500 2 years ago and injured my hip. It hasn't recovered since. A year ago I worked back up to sets of 3 in the mid 400s after a couple of months but re-injured it again. Deadlifted for the first time in a year a couple weeks ago and could do 400 easily but felt the paid coming back. Seems my hip is pretty much fucked. Since the fraudemic started I've been lifting at home and have a sickening home gym but for some reason I decided to drop some weight. On upper body lifts I've maintained most of my strength while shredding down to a legit 10% body fat but I've lost a lot of strength on my squat.

If anyone knows about rehabbing hip injuries, pls respond

I back squat and front squat. I don’t straight bar deadlift anymore, hex if anything. I also don’t go over around 300 pounds, it’s not worth risking injury as an oldmo.
