Option two: In-house editor at a fintech; $138k base; 15k bonus; tiny bit of equity. 50-60 hrs/wk
Option three: Head of comms for a fintech startup; 40-50 hrs/wk; freelance at $80/hour; could maybe still do a little freelancing elsewhere. No benefits. |

Option 1 seems unstable. |

Option 2: this is a solid example of the type of opportunity you're waiting for. It is great on your resume, provides benefits (which, especially since you have a kid is a big deal). The real question here is if you want to be an editor. If not, then 3 might be the better option.
Option 3: not worth it unless you get some real equity that will skyrocket in value if the company takes off and/or unless you really want the "head of comms" title and that's the direction you want to go in. Realistically, if you work 40-50 hours/week you're not going to freelance on the side. |
