In the hands of a physically fit person, a knife is just as dangerous as a gun at close range, and there's good reason cops are quick to shoot when someone pulls a knife. But this guy was in a fucking mobility scooter, for goodness sake. He's not going to be able to do anything with the knife, especially since he's moving away from the cop when shot.
