Have four kids and it's been phenomenal to be able to spend 2-3 straight weeks there in the summer and then pop up on random weekends in the summer or even off season. Love that it's a tradition of sorts and the kids/family build memories there.
My only big fear is that as the kids age they'll (rightfully so) want to spend time with their friends and social circle and not have an appetite for spending 2-3 weeks up at the lake. |

But pricing out what I need to pay for ski house rentals these days (since we have multiple kids, need grandparent baby sitters, etc) it almost makes it seem possible/shrewd to just buy a place and maybe tent it out sometimes. |
