Depends on what you want to do.

Zion has two world class hikes. Angels landing and the canyon one.

Canyonlands is gorgeous w amazing views but it’s all desert.

For a first time I would spend time in Zion and do one of the hikes. Then domcanyonlands drive by style.

All the Utah parks are 180^180 but Zion is clearly better than Canyonlands. However, Canyonlands is 40 minutes from Arches and there is other 180 stuff around Moab as well so as a package the Moab area is better. Zion also gets crowded AF and you may as well not even go during the peak times.

Zion is 180 and super well run and both the major hikes are awesome, and it has tons of stuff that works for younger kids. Moab/Arches is cool for like a day trip and I would love to go mountain biking there with a group for several days, but not that great for more than a day (even just a long afternoon) with young kids.

Don't like how built-up Zion is, with the trams. Parking is an issue. But it's way more scenic than Canyonlands. Canyonlands is great for feeling insignificant and secluded, the scale of it all is preposterous, but overall it's not as picturesque as Zion. They're both 180

Zion is incredible. Narrows is a top 10 hike - just do it the second the park/shuttles open to avoid crowds, at least on the walk in. Angels landing also good but absurdly crowded but very good.

Zion is really just one valley so you can probably hit all the high points and best trails in a couple of days and then head over to Bryce.

The Narrows are 180, but strolling around at its terminus with the tourists is not a top 10 hike. It’s not even a top 10,000 hike. Hiking down stream from Chamberlain’s Ranch is credited but still no where near a top 10 hike. Not even top 10 in Utah.

angels landing is truly a breathtaking experience, but you just have to time it right or it'll just be you standing in line for hours while faggots take photos (although maybe you'll witness some idiot falling off, which happens regularly)
