Dentists do not make bank coming out of school, it takes 5-10 years to set up a practice. Don’t base it on boomers that have it made. Dentists also have some of the highest student loans. |

Social work is for do-golfers. And the degree is only 1-2 years.
Public health is for dumbs who got ahut out of not only med school but dental school, podiatry, optometry, pharmacy etc. But not competitive and the program only lasts 1-2 years.
I don't agree with teaching. Pay is shit but it's super easy and you get off at 3PM and get summers off. Tons of holidays and never have to work overtime, weekends etc
Shitlaw is another good one. Three year long, expensive degree but pay is shit. OTOH, most people consider all lawyers to be relatively prestigious. |

There was a senior associate type who was a 35 year 250lb obese shrew who clearly hated life. The head partner at the firm was a 50 year old divorced woman with a younger black BF. Her ex husband showed up to an event one time and he was an older professor looking type with long hair. Loooked very intellectual. Truly wild stuff. All this on late 2000s Brooklyn.
There were a bunch of lifers who went into “court” most days and they all were often either poorly dressed or over dressed. It was weird.
Luckily I didn’t have to go to “court” cause I wasn’t admitted to the bar yet but afterward once they were getting me ready to go, it was time to quit.
Tell your kids not to flunk OCI. Trying to get advice to get out of that shit job is how I found XO in the first place. Some AK47 dude told me I’d always be a loser and it was too late for me and that I’d be stuck in shitlaw forever with crushing debt. Never forgot that comment. |

Moved around a bunch since then but have done well going back and forth between biglaw and in-house. Def have always tried to give that professor (he was an adjunct part-timer who worked a normal law job) work whenever I can (not like he needs it).
