But the way things are being done leaves Russia financially fine, India happy (they buy Russian oil and gas and then resell to Europe at a high cost), and Europeans angry because energy costs are extraordinary. All of that said, the whole "Russia cannot survive like this!" talk has been proven consistently wrong.
The best part is what is Ukraine going to do in winter? Europe is still fairly wealthy. Energy can cost 10x normal amounts and they will buy it and not starve. But Ukrainians in winter in parts not under Russian control will be actually freezing. And poorer E. Euro places like Poland, the Baltic States, etc. will also be in serious trouble. |
