Yes, I agree, a 5 year old could have more emotional pull than a child in her mother's womb. Just like how when there is a shooting at a kindergarten, people care more than if someone shot up a senior's home. But it takes a real special kind of stupid to then conclude that old people are not really worth the same protections as 5 year olds.

I am able to distinguish between emotional reaction and the underlying principle. I am also more emotionally torn up if a family member dies than a stranger, but I don't assume that means that strangers are not human persons deserving of basic protections re: life.

The fence sitters have to somehow acknowledge that a human person is being murdered when an abortion happens, BUT somehow that person is not worth as much because they are less developed and not as easily identifiable.

I also would likely care more if my kid died than if my 90 year old grandmother died, that doesn't mean that if my grandmother was murdered I would just shrug my shoulders and say "welp, its sad and somber but a necessary evil".
