The elites love it because they get paid out via the MIC. They also use it to advance globalist ambitions of ruling the world.

Proles get brainwashed into thinking they're part of some great superpower and that if they don't support it they're responsible for some horrible thing ("have you seen how the Taliban treat women?" "Look at what Saddam did to the Kurds!" "Gadhafi kills innocent people!" "Assad is suppressing the desires of those yearning for freedom!"). Mind you, all of this will be immediately forgotten when these arguments are no longer convenient. For example, when the US decides to pull out of Afghanistan 20 years later. Or when Gadhafi gets killed and the situation in Libya gets much worse than it was under his rule. Or when the new Iraqi government also kills Kurds.

In the long run I think this will be a significant factor in our societal collapse.
