PHOTO: Manager Online National – The Kasikorn Research Center estimates that the number of foreign tourists traveling to Thailand throughout the year 2022 would reach 7.2 million people after Thailand scrapped the “Thailand Pass” registration on July 1st. According to the research center, tourists from East Asian countries will be the majority in the tourist market in Thailand through the rest of this year. By the end of 2022, tourists from India are expected to be number one in Thailand’s tourist market.
Regarding European tourists, the ongoing situation between Russia and Ukraine that has not yet been resolved finding a mutual solution would result in the recovery of the market from Russian and Eastern European tourists during the rest of the year, the Center stated. Otherwise, the situation would continue to affect tourism.
However, the Kasikorn Research Center stressed that the environmental factors of tourism in Thailand are questionable. Tourism business operators also have to plan new business strategies to reach new demands of foreign tourists after the post-Covid-19 period, such as managing tourist packages for a long-term stay to attract European tourists with high purchasing power.
