I realize the film was made by transhumanists and it was probably intended as one of the "laugh at the goy sheep while we confess what's happening to their dumb ears", but I still like it. It's like how Ubisoft made the 180 "keep your rifle by your side" song that the right unironically embraced to Ubisoft's chagrin. The Matrix is actually the perfect metaphor to explain to NPCs - maybe they got too cocky with the symbolism.
