Need some realistic marriage advice

Just had new flooring in kitchen. I paid for it. Wife hates it that I drag the chair a little when pulling up to the table. She put pads on the chair legs but that does not solve the problem to her satisfaction. Apparently some minor scuffing of the floor is visible to her hawk eyes. She screams every time I sit down. Screams that I’m not using the chair right and that I’m supposed to pick it up and place it where I want it rather that slide it back to sit in it then slide it up to the table.
Anyway, I lost it and told her it’s my house so I can sit how I want and I will never change the way I sit down to eat. Wife went berserk and I left the room. Has she lost her mind? Thank. |

Example: new car, I hate when wife eats in it, her response is that I get nice expensive cars but she gets to do what she wants in it. Same idea here. Tell her that at some point the floor will need to be refinished or replaced and you should accept that. There's no point to walking on eggshells in your own house so you could get a nicer floor. And when you replace the floors you'll get something better.
Another solution: there's an acrylic finish you can get for your floors that will be more durable (assuming it is real wood). When you refinish you should look into it. |

she got insanely upset with me about it. i was just like "wtf, it's your bed AND i helped finish the floor. plus it's an easy fix, just need to stain the scratches."
we broke up shortly after that and she kept calling me an asshole for "scratching up her floors and not fixing it."
