neither. Trump energized the right, Putin was never "right." Trying to impose American right/left on Russia is just an example of square-peg-round-hole. Those terms are not correlative enough in Russia to be useful to us here.

Define the "right"-- libs like yourself are quite happy to think of the right as Bush and Romney and their ilk. Fine. But they weren't really "the right" so much as they were a slightly more conservative democratic party. Let's be clear, even the Dems aren't really what they once were-- the party of the working man. Both parties pre-Trump were just different wings of Goldman Sachs, etc.

Trump killed that milquetoast brand of conservativism. Good riddance.

To be fair,

2016: Russia stole the election, crazy interference, scary times, democracy in peril due to GOP

2020: Most secure election in history thanks to brave Democrats providing the necessary "fortifications" to save "democracy"

Haha yeah! Public polling agrees with this assessment btw! Only a tiny fringe of the hard right thinks 2020 was shady as fuck!

To be fair,

"I" haven't done anything. We'll see what unfolds over the next decade or two, however.

I genuinely dislike trump both as a person and as a politician and pray multiple times a day for his death to occur in the next six months. But pre-July 2015 the GOP autopsy version of the party was led by a thing called Reince Priebus and a bunch of washed up has beens and losers like Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee and Newt Gingrich. That was what the GOPe was completely satisfied to put up against an evil sociopath who had already rigged the Dem primary and was providing every indication that she intended to go to war in Syria and start imprisoning right wingers who opposed her here at home. So yes, compared to that the GOP is better off today. It’s by no means in a good place, and the literal best thing that could happen for it and the country as a whole, probably better than anything that’s happened in US politics in 50 years, would be for Trump to die. But it’s sickening to imagine where we would be today if Her had been POTUS.
