From a strategic perspective, Ukraine likely has the ability to carry this out longer than Russia. Ukraine is backed by the world’s wealthiest nations and its ranks are filled out by motivated soldiers fighting for their homeland, while Russia is economically isolated, an international pariah state, and relying heavily on unwilling and poorly trained conscripts.
The only good thing that will emerge from this is a permanent neutering of Russia. They can no longer even pretend to be a faded empire. They’re simply a regional player, not even top dog relative to their immediate neighbors, and they now have a bunch more NATO neighbors. Russia’s ability to be a global force for evil is permanently destroyed. |

The US is giving Ukraine enough support to keep Russia bogged down but stopping short of giving them enough to win and send the Russians home.
It seems clearly calculated to: 1) line the pockets of our defense contractors; 2) justify further expansion of NATO (i.e. our sphere of influence); and 3) weaken our enemy (russia) all at the expense of the Ukrainians who are fighting for their survival.
It is truly tragic and sickening. |
