For around two years, I was convinced that the government and other groups were indeed "after me." The nature of this persecution ranged from daily harassment to daily assassination attempts, all of which I thought I barely survived.

Glowie, also known as a *Glown*****, is a slang term popular on 4chan's /pol/ board used in reference to CIA or other governmental agents posing as ordinary 4chan users in order to bait others into sharing incriminating information. It is also used to call out potential bait posts made by agents in an insulting way. The term originates from schizophrenic computer programmer Terry Davis, who claimed in 2017 that "CIA n*****s glow in the dark" in a video. Glowposting is also used to refer to agents who post bait content.

Origin

In 2017, schizophrenic computer programmer Terry Davis, known for his TempleOS software that he claimed was dictated to him by God and meant to be God's third temple, made a video showing off various aspects of TempleOS. In the video, Terry says, "The CIA n*****s glow in the dark, you can see them if you're driving. You just run them over, that's what you do."

My sense perceptions were distorted throughout my schizophrenic episodes. While I didn't see anyone glowing, I can certainly understand Davis's experience. I could "sense" and almost see an "aura" from most people while I was psychotic.

are bipolar disorder and schizophrenia related conditions? I know someone with BPD who has bad delusions about psychics, past lives, and monitoring devices tracking her movements.

There’s some overlap. There’s also schizoaffective disorder, which is having both bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. That was actually my first diagnosis, but my doctor says schizophrenia is more accurate. In bipolar disorder you have delusions only when your mood is at extreme points; in schizophrenia the delusions are there even when your mood is relatively stable. That’s an oversimplification, but still good enough.

Thanks that’s helpful.

This person was medicated and mostly normal/good for 12 years but in the last few months has gone off the rails. She has delusions over her children’s nonexistent medical conditions and that her husband is spying on her and has convinced her family to turn against her. An intervention was attempted to convince her to get help but she became aggressively defensive and has written off anyone who believes she’s in a bad mental state.

I have spent a lot of time on support forums for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. What you describe is very common. This sounds like bipolar disorder type 1 with psychosis.

What triggered the recurrence of symptoms? Did she stop taking medication recently? She needs a medication adjustment. If you can't convince her to see a psychiatrist, you can try to have her hospitalized.

In the US, there are three big reasons for being hospitalized for mental health issues: being a threat to yourself, being a threat to others, or being unable to take care of your basic needs (like hygiene, diet, everyday tasks, etc.). You might have to work with the police if you try to have her hospitalized.

We don’t know for sure what had triggered her symptoms but we suspect she stopped taking her medication regularly with alcohol, marijuana, and possibly weight loss pills.

We have tried with the police but she isn’t too far gone to justify involuntary mental health hold. They said she was exhibiting “bizarre behavior” but not enough to take her away. She still has her job (somehow) although we’ve received reports that she’s exhibiting weird behavior there too.

She’s reasonably intelligent so she knows how to act appropriately when necessary.

This is common issue. She’s delusional, but not delusional enough to be hospitalized. Tell her she’s at a high risk of losing her job if she doesn’t get help. It can also cause child custody issues if it gets bad enough.

At the very least you need to stop the marijuana use. Weed and delusions are a terrible combination. Tell her a psychiatrist would provide her a better alternative to alcohol.

This is absurd and laughable. Schizophrenia is a complete failure of normal pattern recognition. What a schizophrenic knows by intuition or instinct is extremely distorted from the true reality.

It took me around two years to realize this.

The book "Schizophrenia: A Blueprint for Recovery" by Milt Greek has some good ideas on how to interact with someone in the depths of schizophrenic psychosis.

The earlier you seek help for schizophrenia the better you'll turn out. That's my core advice. I was an untreated, unmedicated schizophrenic for just over three years. And recovery takes a long time, or at least it did for me. I'm still recovering. Schizophrenia erased my core beliefs and mental framework and replaced it with a highly-distorted one. You need to build that back up, and it won't happen overnight.

Do you sometimes hear them but “realize” the hallucinations are not real?

If so why do you sometimes understand it’s not real but not always?

What triggers you?

How should people help you when you are in a bad state?

It took me over a year to even realize I was hallucinating. That's how real they sounded. Living in near-isolation seemed to delay realizing this.

Also, I experienced olfactory hallucinations and even visual hallucinations at a few points. These happened only at my very worst points, which was always right before a long hospitalization. My longest hospitalization was for around two months.

I didn't realize I had hallucinated at all until about a year into being heavily medicated. By then, the hallucinations were gone.

I've become resilient on medication. No stressors have triggered a recurrence in nearly two years.

Best thing to do if I relapse is to take me to a hospital.
