Date: January 4th, 2023 1:53 PM Author: vermilion queen of the night famous landscape painting i take a heaping cup of almonds and soak them in water in the morning. when i get back in the evening, i rinse them off and put about 1/3 in bullet/blender. add enough good bottle water to blend well. then I take that blend and pour it over a metal strainer over a bowl. shake and shake until liquid goes through. put back in blender and mix adding more water and repeat the strain. repeat for a 3rd interval. now what is left in my strainer is only the brown almond husks, as all the silt and liquid has gone through. then i start the process over with the new almonds. it usually takes between 2-3 batches for a cup of almonds because i use a bullet, but i suppose you could do them all at once in a good blender. just make sure the end product you have left is only almond husks in the strainer and you know you are done.
after this i filter the silt and liquid into a quart mason jar with a good nut milk bag while squeezing and perhaps some more water if i think its not enough. goal is 1 heaping cup almonds to 1 quart of finished milk. when you are done with the nut milk bag you will have some fine white almond mash that you can eat in a shake or put into cold or hot cereals. i take the quart of milk and add a good pinch of salt and a tablespoon of excellent raw organic honey and a dash of vanilla extract and chill it down good. |
