hey bro i have convinced my wife who has only ever done various cardio and "classes" to work out to do a basic barbell-based strength training program for 3-6 months.

she has done squats with kettlebells and shit but never been under a barbell in her life. do you recommend that beginner bodybuilding program you poasted for women as well as men, or have something else you used for women you trained (if any)?

I've trained several, including my own wife. The routine I started her on is geared towards specific things she wanted to work on, which you/your wife might not care about. I wouldn't have most of the arms (bis/tris) work in there unless yours specifically cares about that, or is lifting for performance. I'm assuming your goals are almost entirely aesthetic, not performance or competition (e.g. powerlifting). I'd run the same beginner split with the following modifications:

- 4 total sets of back work (rows + pullups/lat pulldowns)

- 3 sets of barbell bench work on push days, not 5

- add 10 vacuums every morning for her, using this as a guide: https://youtu.be/uGIrqrlDcbQ

- 3 sets of walking dumbbell lunges on days she squats or deadlifts, for whatever the rep range is for that day (per leg)

What are her goals? Figuring this out will help me give more specific advice. Mine wanted to be able to do pullups, and start competing in powerlifting, so her programming was much different than for someone who just wanted to make their wife hotter and didn't care about performance.

Ty man! Her goals are aesthetic not performance. Pretty typical chick goals like ass work and toning of legs, arms and abs. I am thinking of running the three day full body split option in your spreadsheet for her, at leash initially, because she already does a lot of cardio and I don’t see her dedicating more than 3 days per week to strength.

That's more than sufficient.

"Toning" is a function of bodyfat percentage, not muscle mass, so she should eat at a caloric deficit if she has fat there she doesn't like.

Cut the bench sets to 3 sets of barbell, stick with tricep pushdowns as her only triceps exercise, for three sets, and add the lunges I mentioned. That's far more specific what she wants.

Part of that is unavoidable because you are used to some level of emaciation. Vacuums have been 180 both for me and my woman though. She's been able to really add muscle to compete while keeping a narrow waist/visible abs, and my waist stays between 29 and 30 inches at a bodyweight of about 193. Do them in the morning before eating, increase duration if they get too easy. The video linked above is by far the best tutorial I've found for them.
