There’s not a lot of banking recruiting or top grad school admissions out of UMaine. Average Dartmouth grad is employed with a pretty good salary and married to someone at a similar level, and so it’s worth it for signaling and relationships even if it doesn’t make sense in terms of the actual educational quality vs price.
