These vehicles can't run 24/7 and be constantly on the move. These operations take days/weeks/months. They also need maintenance, rearming, refueling, repairs, etc. All of that requires that these vehicles spend a lot of time in exactly that state. The only alternative is to use them for an assault and then move them all the way back behind fortifications which would make advances basically impossible. Zelinsky and his buddies don't care about Ukraine, they care about getting paid and then leaving to live a wealthy life abroad. That means they won't negotiate a peace until instructed to do so. For Western powers this is an attempt at regime change in Russia or, failing that, a brutal war that kills a lot of Russians and ensures that if they take Ukraine that the value of their conquest will be minimized. Negotiating a peace doesn't advance that either. Finally, there's the Military Industrial Complex that benefits tremendously from cold war stockpiles being destroyed and everyone spending to rearm. A negotiated peace would be disastrous to this.
So the war will continue until one side (likely Russia) wins. |

There was always some set of excuses about why it was two weeks away, how there was some secret set of elite divisions getting trained by NATO that were going to spearhead the assault, etc.
It reminded me too much of the junior associate who comes in every day with a new excuse about why the draft isn’t done. After a while you realize it just doesn’t exist. |
