sharkbite connectors are push-to-connect fittings with movable plastic parts/teeth inside and rubber o-rings. these can break if you (or the idiot that installed it, and most real plumbers won't install them) weren't super careful, can leak if they weren't pushed to seat to the correct depth or properly deburred before connecting, and will eventually leak as the o-ring wears out. if it's something sitting on an external surface that you can look at and go "well fuck my ass, the sharkbite is leaking" and then fix it in thirty minutes total by shutting off your main water, looking for the other sharkbite connector you know you had somewhere in the fucking garage for 28.5 minutes, and popping the fucker on once you find it, that's no big deal. if it's in a wall you're going to find out its leaking when you get major mold problems or the first floor ceiling starts to bulge. pex has two other connection types: one is a crimp connection that's basically just a metal ring that goes around the pex and gets crimped down, and the other is a connection that stretches one side of the pex slightly and inserts the other like two uncut dicks docking. which one you use depends on whether you have A or B type pex. either will last far longer and be far cheaper than sharkbites anyway; sharkbites are just really easy and quick.
i've used the crimps, sharkbites, and sweated copper in plumbing projects in my house. it's all easy. the stuff i have sharkbites on is immediately visible/accessible or underground but in an access port i can get to, and everything with sharkbites has a redundant separate shutoff. and i may replace several because i'm good at sweating copper now and have to reroute some of the plumbing in my current project anyway.

Surprisingly good responses ITT. OP your well casing and delivery pipes are very likely plastic. Polyethylene most likely. Go look if you have access - it black, shiny plastic. And very likely PVC supply between well and house. I wouldn’t be concerned about PEX, either A or B. It’s good quality stuff. It won’t burst if it freezes (fittings might but w/e). Pex A especially has some very cool physical properties. You can fix a hard kink by applying heat.
SharkBite fittings are a complete scam for big box stores to sell a $25 fitting instead of a far superior 50 cent one. Only thing is you need the right tools to use the 50 cent fitting.
