Date: May 6th, 2024 5:46 PM Author: vivacious maniacal business firm Merz is a pretty uncharismatic guy (albeit a stronger leader than Scholz), but Germany is a parliamentary system where voters vote for a particular party and the party selects its leader. Merz was just selected as CDU leader by an overwhelming vote, and CDU has a strong lead in the polls. I guess that could change by 2025, but not really- the CDU wins by default since all the other parties are unpopular for one reason or another.
