a 50-gallon water heater was wired into a 15-amp breaker, which is hilariously illegal even in mexico. and the outlet was re-wired at some point, presumably to 'fix' the heater's issues, so there is absolutely no excuse for that.
fortunately, it was only a few feet from the breaker panel itself, so i was able to open up the wall and unfuck that situation in a couple hours.
though to be quite honest, i'm not an electrician either, and it's always possible that i am fucking things up, too. but i have actually read large portions of the national electrical code, so let's hope not.
