This is idiotic. She should take a year or two off and get some work experience, then she'd be more likely to get into, say, UM. (Wasn't early graduation part of Barzini's problem too?)

I just find it hard to believe that someone who's such a potent combination of freakishly workaholic and obviously very smart wouldn't be able to get the high 160s through sheer willpower.

Wow. UofM is a complete TTT.
She might have had a shitty gpa, too. If you are taking 27 credits, there's no way you can put enough energy into each class to really get decent grades.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. - A 19-year-old suburban Detroit resident is on track to graduate from The University of Michigan after just a year of study.

Nicole Matisse, of Bloomfield Hills, is to officially graduate in the summer with a bachelor's degree in psychology.
As a student at Lahser High School, Matisse had exhausted the curriculum by her junior year. Between the exams she passed on eight advanced placement courses and the eight classes she took at Oakland Community College, she had amassed enough credits to enter the university last fall as a junior.
"When I got to U-M, I only took 19 credits, and I was bored and craved more credits," she told The Detroit News for a Wednesday story. "So even when I took 27 credits this semester, I felt I could have added even more."
It's unclear whether any other students have done what Matisse will accomplish this year, but Donna Wessel Walker, assistant director of the honors program, said she's never seen it happen.
"She's taking in one semester the course load that most people take in two," Wessel Walker said. "She is one determined young lady."
Matisse's next step is to start as a first-year student at the Wayne State University law school in Detroit.

Different version of the article I read, I guess: "By August, she will have finished her undergraduate career in less than a calendar year, maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average."

Yeah but it's impossible to do what she did. Almost all good private schools (actually all the ones I'm familiar with) severely limit the number of AP/IB/community college credits you can bring in as a freshman these days. I don't think you could graduate from my UG in less than 2.5 years at the very quickest.

HYP's won't give you credit for AP courses; they will only give you advanced standing to take the next available class.
the only exception is, if you can bring in enough high-quality AP's (you'd need all 5's, which i doubt this girl had if her LSAT only got her into Wayne State) your dean might approve you for advanced standing (i.e. admission as a soph).
i know only 1 person that did this at my HYP UG. he graduated in 3 yrs. he's one of the smartest guys i know. like, crazy-smart. EE with about a 4.0 taking insanely hard math and EE classes

credited.
and the irony is, since her TTT LSATs have led her to a TTT LS, she'll be a big fish in a toilet. This will reinforce her delusion that she's SCOTUS caliber.

Seriously this girl comes off as really douchey in this article:
"When I got to U-M, I only took 19 credits, and I was bored and craved more credits," she told The Detroit News for a Wednesday story. "So even when I took 27 credits this semester, I felt I could have added even more."
EVEN MORE!!!!!!! I CRAVE CREDITS NOT KNOWLEDGE!!!!!!
Jesus, if you're bored pick up a hobby. Drink a beer. Holy crap.

I met a guy who finished college at 19 and went to a TTT. Maybe people like this care more about getting a degree and a good GPA than where they go to school? Or maybe the good schools don't want to take such young students? If that's the case, they should work or something for a few years. It doesn't make any sense to me.
You would think someone with a 4.0 from Michigan could do better than a 4th tier law school. She must have really bombed the LSAT. Now that many schools take the higher score, she would be well advised to RETAKE THE LSAT AND REAPPLY NEXT CYCLE.
Someone needs to tell her how many Wayne State grads have been on the Supreme Court, much less clerked for a SCOTUS Justice.

I don't care what law school she graduates from, I would still hire her. To me, a person that is willing to throw away free time to amass credit hours sounds a lot like a person that would also be willing to throw away free time to amass billable hours. This girl was born to be an associate drone.

shouldn't schools give an advantage to early grads in respect to their LSAT scores? I mean, who would have really done as well if they took it during or right after their freshman year?

maybe she'll finally be the one to file a class action suit on these TTT schools for misrepresenting their career prospects of their students? given that she'll likely still be living with her parents and have some time on her hands...
Cnn.com has a video story on this girl (not sure how to link since it is a java popup, but it is under latest stories). Highlights include her amazing typing speed and interviews with a real life Wayne State law-student. It is not to be missed.

wow. She comes off as a real tool in this piece.
on the other hand, that reporter was a champion. Like to sit through some of that stuff with a straight face is impossible, and she manages to deliver her report with poise and enthusiasm. She deserves a high five for drawing a shitty assignment and pulling it off.

A ton of UMich people go to Wayne State everywhere. Wayne State is the dumping ground of all the shitty schools in Michigan, which includes UMich. I know of at least three other UMich undergrads who went to that toilet.

Probably true. But even so, people should accept that UMich just isn't very good. Usually the UMich Wayne students are retards who did poorly on the LSAT.

Everywhere or every year?
Wayne State is the 2nd best school in the state. For those who want to stay in Michigan, it makes sense to study there if you can't get into UM or another T10.
UMich isn't shitty unless you consider almost all schools in the country shitty.

According to the article, she'll be on campus this summer to finish her last few credits.
Some xoxoer at UM should *seriously* try to get her to look beyond Wayne State. If it's an LSAT question (which hasn't been established, and which I actually kind of doubt), she should indeed take a year to get some work ex, study for the LSAT at the same time, and retake.
Otherwise, I agree that she probably got poor advice about apps and that most people (at her school and others) just didn't believe that she'd be graduating this year. In which case, she *still* should take the year off, and just reapply.
