In 2027, with 56 Dem senators, they cut a deal for impeachment and conviction + ban on blormpf running again:
- end Iran war
- continue Ukraine war
- Medicare for most + expanded rural healthcare
- stricter controls against Chinese meth and opioids
- all Trump cabinet members gone with no Vance pardons to them or any Trump family
- beginning process to amend Constitution to ban stock trading by federal electeds and officials + rein in pardon power a bit + SCOTUS term limits of some kind
Get a combination of mega olds like Grassley, women like Murkowski, and ultra safe bros who couldn't be primaried by vengeful blormpf (maybe Dems even have side deal to not go hard against those bros next time even if Trump pwns them ... Focus on people who aren't running for another 4 or 6 years).
I bet you could get a dozen, and if writing was on the wall, many more would find it in their political interest to join so their next opponent can't say they are Trump stooges.
Vance's motivation is obviously to be POTUS and clear the field for his 2028 run.

Wouldn’t the dems rather just let Trump continue to sink the Republican Party to new lows in popularity and then take over full control in 2028? Why prop up Vance?

The dem congress in that era was a lot more "blue dog"/Manchin-like. Harry Reid was on the cover of the NRA's magazine with some headline like "proud defender of the 2nd Amendment!" No way they had enough votes for that.

That was certainly Rahm's excuse for only getting Obama Care instead of single payer. They got btfo in 2010 anyway so would have been interesting how much they could have really pushed through if Obama weren't such a cautious faggot

Vance is young, with young children and a careerist brown wife. I could see him wanting lib acceptance like GWB got eventually. A Gerald Ford style unity and healing thing could appeal to him.

He didn’t then, got it later. Plenty of centrists and libs started saying GWB wasn’t so bad compared to Trump starting 2015 or so. He never endorsed Trump or appeared with him. Quietly let it out he voted D. Late night lib talk shows let him on to talk about his paintings. Resting his head on Michelle Obama. Etc and so on. Bush isn’t poison now the way Trump will be. I assume the Vances want that for themselves and their kids rather than being pariahs the rest of their lives.
Even the safest of safe GOP senators would be risking their careers. Right now there's zero chance that e.g. the Idaho bros lose re-election (Crapo in 28, Risch in 32). But if Trump and AIPAC made it their mission to take them out, they would have to be pretty goddamn worried. (Risch will be 89 when his term ends so maybe he's in the mega old category but you never know with these freaks. Probably likes blormpf anyway)

provided that JD thinks like a lawyer and uses the provisions under the Constitution shielding him from Trump's wrath and enables him to replace an unfit President-- there is hope for the GOP

More people would be willing to cross the aisle on those issues that wouldn't be for impeaching Trump. If a veto-proof coalition emerges they'd just pass the laws, why bother impeaching Trump at that point for no reason? If he declined to enforce the laws they passed that would be a legitimate reason for impeachment.

no one in senate in GOP has a fking spine, they only talk shit abt trump when they are leaving office like tillis
shit wont happen unless trump has a medical episode which is likely, i cld imagine him secretly living in walter reed and they wont say whats wrong and no one sees him for weeks and shit

Trump still has a strong enough pull with the base that these guys would have to be worried about primaries if they took out Trump and adopted a lot of the left-of-center things on your list. Gunnerat has the more likely scenario. On a couple of issues, you might be able to get a veto-proof majority (tariffs, maybe ukraine aid).
