Christ, it's going to be like CLS all over again, except in the summer. I wonder how many of the 13 CLS people are selfish 2Ls in FedCourts. You should ask to see people's schedules so you can identify the selfish pricks immediately and try to get them no-offered.

Skimmed through the list. It doesn't look like any of the GDC NY Columbians are in that class, but I'm just working from memory of the GDC list. Score one point for the summer class.

Not a bad class, but not necessarily selective within those schools (the firm I'm going to has a similar list, but it looks more impressive than it really is).

I know someone at UVA this year who got a callback, but no offer who was slightly below the median. I also know of someone last year who got an offer who was definitely in the bottom quarter. I don't mean to diss Gunderson - I just think they emphasize things other than GPA, which is refreshing.

Well, in Faegre is considered a top law firm in the Midwest, contrary to the Vault rankings, so I would say there are a total of four top firms in Minn.
As much as I love Michigan and Duke trolls, I'm not interested in the kid with 50 offers and he turned down 49. I'm interested where people accept offers. Please refrain from trolling about what kids at your schools could've done, and please feel free to start telling me what they actually did.

Well, frankly I don't care either. I was just responding to a comment that lower T14 got "owned," which implied that they were unable to get offers from Irell.
I know one who went to Cravath, another who went to kirkland, and i believe a third went to Williams & Connolly. And a few of those munger folks probably got offers at Irell.

I feel like it depends on how we assess the prestige of the canadian schools. Still, no-HYS, 10-14s heavy with Cornell/GULC, and "local ttts" which don't even fall in the 20-35 (I think they're actually TTTs), doesn't look great.

2.667, not counting the duke 1L and assuming case western and arizona are t1. (we probably should've made a separate category for t15-25 + BC+ fordham but not including iowa/washington/wustl, and then a spearate category for bad t25s + t25-100; don't think it'll endup being fair for Cali firms that have a ton of UCLA/USC or Texas w/ UT to get only 2 points per when some firms will come in with tons of kids from WUSTL and Work Forest. having those schools in same category as ucla/usc/texas is unfair.)
Date: January 26th, 2007 6:48 AM Author: Beady-eyed pale liquid oxygen
throw in the extra category, and either knock category above it up 1 or every category below it down 1 (this would result in TTT's being worth -1, but that's ok). Write the result as, for example:
LIPTON 2.34
so that can indicate it's your method and not my original one. i'm not sure you want to redo the calculations for old firms though.
Does anyone have any recommendations for the format, changes, etc.? I'm open to recommendations before the statistics get out of control and I don't want to edit them.
For future reference, I'll be included a Selectivity Index and a Regional Ranking based on the Vault rankings. Also, I'll do a firm-for-firm comparison to 2006 for firms with reported SAs both years, which should give us a great window into rising/falling law schools in various Vault categories.
Date: January 28th, 2007 1:39 PM Author: red provocative locus
Suggestion: don't list firms by "vault ranking." How about alphabetical or something. I would have listed the summer class for Quinn but for the fucktarded way you've laid out the website, which panders to the retarded vault rankings.
Does this bother many people? I figure the most important firms will generally be near the top and makes the format more readable. If people want a specific firm, it's easy to Ctrl+F it, because all posts are on the main page.

yeah... in fact, it would be a pretty poor showing for chicago if there were only eight students in the 2L class who could get jobs basically anywhere. i'd think that should be true for the entire top 10-20% of the class.

This definitely includes NY, don’t know if it includes DC as well.Obviously, a lot of these could be undergrad e-mail addresses. Additionally I’m not sure what the Canadian e-mail addys are...undergrad e-mail addresses? Yahoo/gmail/hotmail/earthlink ones could go anywhere.
Anyone know what the deal is with Canadian educational institutions? Do American firms take their law students or are they undergrand e-mail addresses?

From what I've heard, LeBoeuf has been putting a lot more emphasis in recruiting from higher ranked schools and candidates with stronger GPAs in lower ranked schools in the past year at least.

I'm assuming you meant to reply to the LeBoeuf post. I'm sure there are more 1Ls than that, seeing as how they do hire 1Ls. I'm just saying that I don't think there are any 1Ls in the group I've mentioned here.
Cadwalader is SHREWD. They had been going 0 for the HLS class until some genius decided they should give HLS flasher Ben Huston an offer. Obviously he couldn't get one anywhere else, so he took it.
Got them off the schneid, and now when a naive HLS student looks at the OCI data...

I recieved a magazine they publish and it had the summers in it. I am not sure if they meant last summer's class, but I can't imagine they would publish that the summer class in the winter edition after the summers are done.
Jeez...Sidley certainly takes its fair share from Chicago. Harvard seems well represented as well. Illinois seems low. Did the firm recruit on campus at the single-student schools?

definitely. when i applied, a 169 was the lower bound for getting into columbia for some GPA's, and a 166 was the lower bound for getting into vanderbilt with those same GPA's.

To some extent, I buy the NYU kids are less inclined to work at Cravath argument. They could probably place at least 15 if they wanted to. I'll troll for CLS and say that NYU couldn't get as many, but that much of a disparity has to be partly self-selection.

I agree that just because a firm lists summer associates it by no means more people from that school weren't offered jobs. I have a friend who turned fown W&C for a decidedly less prestigious firm in a location he liked a lot better.
Date: March 9th, 2007 4:10 PM Author: Anal meetinghouse
what all of these lists fail to account for is the quality of student from each school. some of these firms could get 100+ NYU students if they gave offers to the top 95% of the class.
Date: March 9th, 2007 4:28 PM Author: ultramarine ladyboy corner
Quality of students is taken into account by combining a.) the prestige of the firm with b.) the relative proportion of the students from a school going to that firm.
