"Stop Trump" and "Help normal Americans" were the unifying thread of the midterm election cycle
If democrats focus on their pet projects instead, it's not going to work out well for them, and all the GOP will have to do is to show contrition and say the right things to have a real shot at turning it around in 2 years
yea, the Rs had to be punished badly. this will do it.
Dems will probably squander this opportunity and just have endless investigations and hearings rather than getting anything done apart from passing an antisemitism bill or two.
they should advance populist legislation aimed at helping working people and let trump veto it out of spite and use that against the republicans in 28, but i bet they won't.
You sure? The enhanced health insurance subsidies they fought tooth and nail to prevent Trump from eliminating apply solely to working people well over 30K.
Huh? The benefits are 100% only for people above 30k, the cutoff you chose, but the cutoff is too low to count? And it was cut to save money and because repturds said the cutoff is too HIGH and covered people who don't need it, but it doesn't actually save much money because the benefits were small with a low cutoff for eligibility?

Dems will control the senate for 6 years minimum. No Republican President should be able to appoint a single judge in that time. Republicans would do the same (and have).

You people are insane partisans that really don't care about anyone including your own voters. Sure, just shutdown the government and refuse any compromise because you've got terminal TDS. You won this election so you own the next two years. If you use that time to make things worse for people just to spite Drumpf you're gonna lose hard in 2028.

What do you imagine the point of politics and governance is? To fuck over political rivals or to improve things for the people? I think most people would like to have a functioning government even if le cheeto in chief is at the helm.
You should ask the people who decided that the sole priorities of the federal government are filing charges against political opponents that fail the ham sandwich test at the grand jury, building a giant ballroom for someone who gets low attendance at all of his events, re-painting a decorative pool, putting a sign on a theatre building, and cutting down trees on a golf course.

Well you don't have the votes to impeach him so your options are work with him to eek out the best policies you can or shut down the government entirely which will make things worse for everyone. Clearly most of you would rather see the later happen because thumbing your nose to Drumpf is more important to you than your voters.
"just shutdown the government and refuse any compromise"
hmm sounds familiar.
And how does signing off on the appointment of cabinet members who give their family members hundreds of millions of dollars in no-bid contracts, reduce measles vaccines during an outbreak, and try to invade Iran, Venezuela, and Cuba help the voters anyway? LMAO at you all calling anyone insane or selfish.

I said the same during partisan obstructionism during the Biden admin.
How about *don't* sign off on appointments with corrupt candidates and use your power to force better appointments instead of committing to obstruct all appointments?
It's not Abdul's fault that Trump and his party only nominate candidates that pursue nothing but their self-enrichment and abuse of power. If his constituents wanted Trump's appointees, they would have voted for Rogers the Trump sycophant.

This is exactly what's going to happen. A lot of it is out of the Dems control. Trump has the veto and is a catty faggot, so the Dems won't be able to pass much of substance. But in the electorate's eyes they won this election big so they own what happens over the next two years.

That would be a bad option imo. The government removing elected officials from power is inherently anti-Democracy. Whatever Trump may be he is essentially the same guy he was when he got elected in 2024. And the appropriate method is impeachment. He's certainly not disabled in the way the 25th amendment is intended to protect against.

If he was unfit in your opinion when elected then your standard of fitness is out of line with the electorates. The people decide who is fit. Once you let officials supercede the people's judgment we're no longer a Democracy.
well the difference is that now we have good reason to believe there's medical evidence documenting that he's unfit. he wouldn't be taking cognitive tests all the time if they weren't tracking a condition.

I get that you don't like Trump and I've never been a huge fan either. But you know he is coherent and not disabled in the way the 25th Amendment intends, which means like Reagan levels of dementia. If you're not persuadsd by the fact that would be an anti-Democratic move that usurps the peoples will and illegal if we're interpreting the 25th correctly, then consider what sort of precedent it sets. Do you think sliding further into a banana republic autocracy by removing elected officials for spurious reasons make things better or worse? Especially when you believe in elite control subverting the people's will already. That would just give them another tool to do that. What if a progressive gets elected and has a turncoat VP?
