Ann Coulter, for example, have very strong beliefs about society's culture and morality but why does she even care?
You're going to die in like 15-20 years if not sooner. You don't have to worry about the world that your children and further descendants will live in.

the idea of only caring about society to the extent your immediate family is impacted is an incredibly recent one which really only emerged after the decline of religion and a plague on american thinking

i mean it's completely true for 95%+ of the population
it's completely laughable that braindead normies could even comprehend (let alone have coherent deep value judgments about!) an infinite-layered abstraction like 'society'
there's a reason why so many people magically become conservative after marrying and having kids when they were previously NPC hedonists waddling around babbling about "rights" and "freedoms"

it's true because over the course of the 21st century society became far less religious, but nothing replaced that common-ground north star. and even going back in human history to periods before organized religion, communities (even on the hunter-gatherer scale) were forced to work together for the greater good.
to the extent having kids does force someone to think about these things, most parents still only do so purely out of interest for their children. which is generally better than nothing but still a far cry from the world of even just 100 years ago

I'm a librarian. Depending on how the culture war plays out, libraries as a public service could be mortally wounded by parents eager to control what their children are allowed to read.
And the REASON parents are so up in arms is because many librarians, in concert with fag homo authors, are pushing sick grooming material on kids. Not to mention all the books promoting women, blacks, and trannies at the expense of the evil white man. Librarians are incredibly liberal (myself excluded) but the public they serve is not.
can you define the extent to which you care about how people 100 years from now who are not your direct descendants live their lives?
Part of it could be religious beliefs. So for devout Christians there is certainly a understandable reason to care about future generations and their belief in Christ for example.

Are you pretending to be unfamiliar with concepts such as nationalism, ethnic affiliation, cultural pride, etc.? Just trying to understand your shtick.

you should think about his question harder. it's a lot deeper of an issue than it might first seem
having an opinion about something is not the same thing as *actually* caring about it, in the same way that one *actually* cares about his/her loved ones

I think xo in general is a very small minded place, and xo posters tend to incorrectly universalize their own experiences and feelings.
It is true that xo has wholeheartedly embraced the American primacy of the nuclear family, layering on a pseudoscientific morality founded in the propagation of ones own unique genetic attributes. I have no real issue with this, but I don't think it's a universal perspective.

that isn't what they're saying
they're saying that human beings cannot, physiologically, care about abstractions or persons who they do not have personal relationships with in the same way that they care about persons who they have personal relationships with. i agree with them that this is true
to the extent that anyone "cares" about persons or abstractions or 'society,' that "care" is an intellectual phenomenon, not an emotional and instinctive one. yeah, i do care to some extent about the future of 'society.' yeah, i do care about some person i've never met whose suffering is profiled in some human-interest story i read about in a newspaper. but i don't care about them in the same qualitative or quantitative way that i care about my family members or my friends. i can't. my brain doesn't work that way. nobody's brain does
once you recognize that any "caring" about persons/things outside of one's dunbar number is a purely intellectual phenomenon, you realize (hopefully) that anybody who is not intelligent and self-aware enough to intellectualize things on this level *does not* actually "care" about any of these people/things, period. this is why stuff like the "NPC" meme speaks to people so strongly. there really is a fundamental difference between "NPCs" who *literally* cannot and do not care about 'society' in the abstract and people who are actually smart enough, self-aware enough, and honest enough to have coherent, reasonably deep opinions about it
needless to say, it follows that people in the former category should absolutely not be "voting" and we should absolutely not have "democracy," mass literacy, etc
Religion transcends ethnic and cultural identity which exist solely in the physical world. Hence my comment about Christians caring about future generations' belief in Christ.
That line of reasoning doesn't apply to caring about whether children 5 generations removed from you speak your preferred language, identify with your country of citizenship or take pride in your race/ethnicity.

If you’re not Christian there’s really no moral basis to care about anyone, including your own family. I think you are realizing the contradiction in the atheist/materialist worldview.
