No idea what you said, but I'm sympathetic to the general problem. On my phone, the top name in the recent log will be the last person I texted, even if somebody else texted me more recently. Leads to some unfortunate mis-texts.
If you really told a chick that you're keeping another girl "in reserve" she's definitely not going to want to date you. Unless she's completely desperate. Only you ca judge that.

he's fucked. gals hate prenuptials for the same underlying principles - and that's after a guy and gal already want to get married. expecting/prepping in case relationship fails = NOT GOOD.

SOmetimes you are right and i appreciate your opinions, but i also trust your opinions the least. These girls are sweet and nice and may operate differently than you.

the fact that she responded to you meant she was intrigued. you lost all your intrigue when you sent that pussy-ass explanatory text. shoulda just went with "oops my bad", and you would actually be in a BETTER position than before you mistakenly sent the text.
girls don't value honesty. they value discretion and saying the right thing at the right time. just being honest all the time is stupid and while she may tolerate it she won't fuck you because of it; rather she'd be fucking you in spite of it.

now that i am calm, this seems credited. I could have used this to my advantage. My options are 1) killself or 2) carry a blackberry with xoxo loaded at all times 3) learn from my mistakes and press on

As a chick, I think you did fuck up, not as badly by sending the first text message (to the wrong chick,) but by telling her "I'm keeping her in reserve." That sounds really tacky.
Next time, wait till you chill out before replying. Then come to xo. You could've told her "I'll tell you all about it when we meet next" and then come up with something better.
Since it was your 1st date with her and you're not sure where things are going yet or if you have a chance with her, you are "keeping her as a friend" (rather than as a reserve.) She will most likely UNDERSTAND what you mean, without having to say she's a reserve.

I see the wording was unfortunate. That's sort of my brand of humor and someone who knew me better might see that. I am planning to ask HOTTIE out for dinner next Saturday. Should i wait a couple of days?

Cool, you got lucky. I'd just say what I told you above--you also had a great time and look forward to seeing her again. Will text you some time in the week to plan something.

You shouldn't have given details. After one date, it isn't her right to know how many dates you've been on with other people. Also, the reserve thing manages to make you look like an ass without seeming cocky or macho (makes it clear you're not above using people, and also that you feel you need a mediocre girl as a reserve).
Best way to handle this would have been to laugh it off. At this point, I think you need to leave the girl alone for a bit unless she contacts you first.

I think you should lay off Emma - the fact that the girl responded to your text doesn't mean you're all clear by any means. She may or may not go out with you again, and if she does, she's going to remember this incident.

That's not the reason he should wait. She just pwned him, which makes it a not so great time to ask. Since there's already a decent chance she's not going to want to see him again, he might as well stack odds in his favor by letting some time pass between the pwnage and the invitation.

Did you really talk to her for two hours, though? That's why I think it's flame, man - most of the time by the time someone talks to a girl for two hours she's ready to move in with you.

rock trapped me into using the marriage language, but we are very relaxed with each other and talk to each other about anything [and she smiled every time i looked into her eyes]

I don't see what any of this has to do with anything. You just did something silly. You don't really know how she took it yet. It's not the time to ask her out again, especially not when the proposed date is a week away and you'll have other opportunities to ask her.
Date: February 8th, 2009 5:05 PM Author: Slap-happy karate bawdyhouse
Nah. Saying something funny shows he doesn't feel pwned. Asking her out immediately is a "Please don't ditch me for screwing up" move. Some distance from the incident is only going to help.

They've been on one date, and they're texting. I think texts by their nature need to be kept either functional or funny. If he asks her out in a few days and she says yes, he can be reassuring on the date.
There's really no point in it now, since he doesn't know yet whether she's going to give him another shot.

Honestly, usually yeah, sure, I'd agree. But if she really is the type of girl who's that hurt by an ex (I mean, it took her two months to want to go out?) you've got to be really a good guy (assuming you're looking for a relationship). I'm with you on the last part - realistically speaking, if he did this (and he didn't), then he lsot any hope with this type of girl, if how he's describing her is right.

Normal enough for my purposes.
your predictions are spot on most of the time, but there is no way anyone can give perfect advice without complete knowledge of the facts.
Based on your current record and based on what I know about this girl, I suspect your prediction has a 70% chance of being correct here. I will update later for you.
