You realize that tipping well comes with many intangible benefits, right? Better service, faster service, better drinks, comped food/drinks, etc. I'm heading over to my "satellite office" in a few minutes for a couple beers (I give up beer tomorrow for Lent, btw), but they don't charge me at all. I just tip heavily, usually 100%. It works out extremely well in the end. In fact, to date, I have made more money off of that single restaurant than I have spent there.

I actually told my gf about that and told her that she's one of the few that got to go to restaurants where my friends work. She knows them all now, and we regularly hang out. In fact, I'm really good friends with several of the bartenders at my cigar bar (and so is she). I was just out with one of them on Friday, actually. He's a great guy and I value his friendship.

My wedding will likely be the most fun event ever, because it'll mostly be industry folks (she used to be a bartender before going to pharmacy school). Our friend circle all have jobs at high-end restaurants, dive bars, etc. They're all awesome people and we're going to have a blast.
