one of few rock bands to live up to the descriptor "the devil's music."
most hard rock and heavy metal bands just sound silly, but there is something genuinely sinister/sexual about led zeppelin music, especially listening to it when you are very young.
it's teenage music though.

Now by popular demand! A list of some of the songs Zep stole from other artists:
"Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" - A folk song by Anne Bredon, this was originally credited as "traditional, arranged by Jimmy Page," then "words and music by Jimmy Page," and then, following legal action, "Bredon/Page/Plant."
"Black Mountain Side" - uncredited version of a traditional folk tune previously recorded by Bert Jansch.
"Bring It On Home" - the first section is an uncredited cover of the Willie Dixon tune (as performed by the imposter Sonny Boy Williamson).
"Communication Breakdown" - apparently derived from Eddie Cochran's "Nervous Breakdown."
"Custard Pie" - uncredited cover of Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down," with lyrics from Sleepy John Estes's "Drop Down Daddy."
"Dazed And Confused" - uncredited cover of the Jake Holmes song (see The Above Ground Sound Of Jake Holmes).
"Hats Off To (Roy) Harper" - uncredited version of Bukka White's "Shake 'Em On Down."
"How Many More Times" - Part one is an uncredited cover of the Howlin' Wolf song (available on numerous compilations). Part two is an uncredited cover of Albert King's "The Hunter."
"In My Time Of Dying" - uncredited cover of the traditional song (as heard on Bob Dylan's debut).
"The Lemon Song" - uncredited cover of Howlin' Wolf's "Killing Floor" - Wolf's publisher sued Zeppelin in the early 70s and settled out of court.
"Moby Dick" - written and first recorded by Sleepy John Estes under the title "The Girl I Love," and later covered by Bobby Parker.
"Nobody's Fault But Mine" - uncredited cover of the Blind Willie Johnson blues.
"Since I've Been Lovin' You" - lyrics are the same as Moby Grape's "Never," though the music isn't similar.
"Stairway To Heaven" - the main guitar line is apparently from "Taurus" by Spirit.
"White Summer" - uncredited cover of Davey Graham's "She Moved Through The Fair."
"Whole Lotta Love" - lyrics are from the Willie Dixon blues "You Need Love."
I'm not listing covers that the band credited to the actual authors ("You Shook Me") or the less blatant ripoffs (the "Superstition" riff in "Trampled Underfoot"). If you have anything to add to this list, please tell me. (DBW)

who cares people say this kind of shit about every famous band.
if you know anything about music then you know that although there are a ton of possible chord progressions, there are fewer that sound good, and there is also a shitload of songs.
here's an example of a chord progression that's been used in literally thousands of songs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdxkVQy7QLM
Sections of guitar riffs can sound similar to each other too (lots of rock songs imitated the riff from "satisfaction").
Led Zeppelin did a lot of unique interesting stuff and didn't use basic chord progressions/riffs, but you're still bound to find similarities between led zeppelin stuff and other pieces. You can do the same for the beatles or any other innovators.

TY
It's hard to take a band seriously that's basically fluff. Like the link says, they sound great until you realize how much shit they stole.
And the few songs that were original have ridiculous lyrics.

lol, they didn't make songs that sounded similar. They full on plagiarized shit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyvLsutfI5M
some of these are kind of a stretch, but some are complete undeniable plagiarism, like Zeppelin just straight up stole songs and passed them off as their own. Pay attention to, e.g., @2:40 Dazed and Confused. That is undeniable. There are dozens of examples of this kind of thing, ranging from a stolen riff here or there, to an entire section or lyrical phrase or melody, to stealing entire songs. There is no reasonable explanation for this besides outright plagiarism. BTW Zeppelin agreed with that analysis, as they have settled with a ton of these artists, hth.

cr, one of the few classic rock bands i can listen to while surfing.
beatles too lovey dovey but they have some nice sad songs like eleanor rigby.
the who and rolling stones were mainly about style i think cause their music sounds like shit to me.
the doors same but they have some okay songs like LA Woman.
jimmi hendrix and fleetwood mac may be good but they just don't do it for me.
creedence too yuppie or hippie. can't decide.

Look at that fucking stage.
You know what sucks about rock now? The band is like 20-30 ft away from the audience.
